The net time you shop at the grocery store, you may see something new– nutrition labels on meat. The same types of labels you already find on other foods.
In 1993, the U.S. Department of Agriculture made nutrition labeling voluntary for many types of raw meats. The labeling becomes mandatory on Thursday.
The new rule affects all ground meat and poultry and 40 of the most popular cuts of meat in the United States such as chicken breasts, steaks, pork chops, roasts, lamb and veal. Full Post…

After Derek Brunson was forced out of the planned match up with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza Strikeforce went to the independent MMA circuit to find a replacement, casting Bristol Marunde to meet the former champion.
Souza and Marunde will be part of the Showtime-televised main card on March 3 from Columbus, Ohio. Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey features a main event between women’s champion Miesha Tate and former Olympian Ronda Rousey.

Over the years, I have developed something of a diet soda addiction. Even if I am drinking the diet soda with something unhealthy, I figure at least I am not adding extra calories with sugary soda. But new research suggests that I may be fooling myself.
A study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine says that people who drink diet soda every day have a higher risk of heart attacks and strokes. The researchers looked at more than 2,500 New York City adults who were at least 69 years old at the start of the study. They followed the participants for a decade. In that time, nearly 600 had a heart attack, stroke or died of causes related to cardiovascular disease, including nearly a third of the people who drank at least one diet soda a day.

Some 574,000 bottles of grape-flavored liquid Infants Tylenol (1 ounce) have been recalled by Johnson & Johnson because reports that the protective cover on the bottles are not working correctly.
Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit has received complaints of difficulty with the Infants Tylenol “Simple Measure” dosing system, which is inserted into a protective cover at the top of the bottle to measure the proper dose. In some cases, the “flow restrictor” was pushed into the bottle when the syringe was inserted.
Distributed nationwide, the recalled Infants Tylenol is an over-the-counter product sold as a pain reliever and fever reducer.

Researchers from the University of Exeter, Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (PCMD), are working with clinicians from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) to reduce the time it takes from the start of a stroke to the administration of vital clot-busting drug treatment.
